KANEVSKY FORGERER CAUGHT I. SWITZELAND AUGUST 31, 2020: AN "ART DEALER" WAS TRYING TO SELL ALEXANDER'S "PEACOCK" FOR 500,000 EUROS. SOPHISTICATED BUYERS TRAINED BY NOW SHOWED THE PAINTING TO EXPERTS WHO CONCLUDED "THIS IS NOT KANEVSKY". THE EXPERTS THEN CONTACTED THE KANEVSKY'S AGENTS IN SWITZERLAND, WHO IN TURN COMMUNICATED TO KANEVSKY PERSONALLY. KANEVSKY SAID: THAT THE PAINTING IS, IN FACT, IN HIS GALLERY IN PRINCETON. THE FORGERER IS FACING CRIMINAL CHARGES. Dan Hues: "On a positive scale the number of forgeries, after the official warning was published merely a month ago, have dropped by over 95%. In fact the only one that popped in since the beginning of August, unless some cases might sleep through our hands, and yet I am really impressed by the level alertness and sophistication of our agents." Alexander Kanevsky painting "Peacock", part of a series "Children and birds, that include "Parot", "Toucan", and "Swan".
